Dear Friends/Partners

Please help our Christian brothers and sisters in Haiti.

We have been working in Haiti for the last 20 years.  We have never seen a situation such bleak situation in the history of Haiti.  Many parts of the country are taken by local gangs.  There is no government in place.   The police and their ammunition are outnumbered. Kidnapping, gang violence, rapes are common occurrences.  Human corpses are lying in the streets.  Haiti has been struggling with food scarcity, lack of drinking water, hunger and malnutrition.  So far, 5000 people were dead and 360,000 people are misplaced, many women and children became homeless running for their lives from the brutality of the gangs. Almost all Christian foreign missionaries left the country.  Many major news networks in the United States including ABC, CNN, etc., telecast the situation in Haiti in the recent days.  We, Love and Hope Ministries, would like to play a small role in helping our Christian brothers and sisters in Haiti by providing basic items such as food, and toiletries.  We have key people working on the ground to ensure the needy get help.  Please join hands with us to help those who are in despair and distress.

The Rapaka FamilyGloria fled Haiti and came to the USA in 1992 because of civil unrest, violence and rapes in the country.  Dr. Jabez migrated to the United States from India in 1993 to pursue his calling at Elim Bible School, Lima, N.Y.  After one year of schooling at Elim, he was enrolled at Zion Bible Institute, Barrington, R.I., where he met Gloria and they got married in 1998.  God, in his sovereignty and eternal purpose, brought them to Regent University in May 2001 to continue their studies.

After ten long years, Dr. Jabez finally returned to his homeland in 2003 while he was studying for his MBA at Regent University.  Because of jet lag, he was unable to sleep, and then he began to pray and seek God to know what His will was for his life and why He brought him back to India after a gap of ten years.  God spoke to him from Matthew 9:36 “When He (Jesus) saw the crowds; He was moved with compassion and pity for them, because they were dispirited and distressed, like sheep without a shepherd.”  He said, “Look around and see the children running on the streets without clothes and sandals, and see the widows and how they are marginalized, and they have no one to care for them.  See the pastors, they don’t have proper means to preach the Gospel.  Please do something about it.”

After he returned to the United States, he solicited the advice of then Dean of Business School, Dr. John Mulford, who suggested incorporating a non-profit with Virginia State Corporation Commission.  With the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and by faith, Gloria and Jabez launched Love and Hope Ministries with six dollars ($6).  God took those six dollars and multiplied them over the years.  For the last 18 years God has been so faithful to sustain this work through the good times and the challenging times.

At times they wanted to quit the work, but the call of God in their lives and the love of God shed abroad in their hearts have compelled them to move forward in the midst of challenges, discouragements and disappointments.  God has proved Himself faithful over and over again in providing for the work in India and Haiti.  They are so excited about what God is going to do in the years to come through Love and Hope Ministries.

Their main goal is to build the Kingdom of God by winning the lost souls for Christ and their secondary purpose is taking care of the disadvantaged in society.  Please partner with them in building His Kingdom and advancing the Gospel on this earth.  C.T. Studd, a great missionary to China, India and Africa, once said: “Only one life, ‘twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.”  Hence, let’s not be weary in our efforts to preach the Gospel and taking care of the poor.  Our reward will be great in Heaven.”

Blessings,

Your Global Missionaries
